aslaam alakium sister lamya how are you insha Allah well. i want to ask you why would bashfulness hinder learning. jazak be khair

  3. Wa Alaikum Assalaam Sister Aida–
In so many cases, out of bashfulness we would hold back from asking questions about rulings on issues related to our deen–such as the changes that a women goes through for instance, or other private matters of a Muslim’s life. NOT asking out of bashfulness can have drastic impacts on our religion–brings a lot of the most essential forms of worship and their validity into question. Imagine if Aishah (raa) our of bashfulness had not asked the many relevant questions for us Muslimahs today, and if the companions–female and male– had not gone to the Prophet (saw) to ask about sensitive matter, and later on Aishah (raa). In matters that will “facilitate” the soundness of the way we practice our deen, not asking is out of basfulness is actually very harmful, don’t you think?

I have a request to ask of you! In our school, we r working on putting together a recipebook. I was wondering if I could use some of the Yemeni authentic dishes that u have posted on this site (of course, with the pictures). Please let me know if that will b ok with you! I wanted to cut and paste to our recipe site where we r collecting the recipes. Jazakee Allah khairan.

  9. Sure Gala. I sent you an email about it my dear. It is on my Yemeniyah.wordpress.com blog!

    Hi,
I’ve just come across your site and I have to say it excites me hugely!!!
I’m in the process of building a website, eventually hoping to put some really nice and diverse recipes on there, but first, I am busy building a mini encyclopedia of ingredients, some common, but mostly ones which the Western world aren’t that familiar with using.
I hope you don’t mind if I ‘use’ some of your ideas for uses in recipes. My aim is to educate people into using stuff that they hadn’t even thought about or never even seen before!
Just want to thank you for inspiring me with some new ingredients!
If you have any suggestions re some ingredients I could include (unusual ones?), please drop me a line. I’d really appreciate knowledge from an expert!
Some of the ingredients I’ve already listed on my site you can take a look at here….

    Thanks once again,

  11. Thank you. Yes, sure do use some ideas from my blog. I would recommend that you mention fenugreek for instance. It’s a very very Yemeni ingredient. Thanks for sharing your blog as well.

  12. Lovefoodies Says:

Hi Lamya, I will definitely mention fenugreek in my ingredients list. (haven’t got to ‘f’ yet!!!). If it’s ok with you, I may see if I can refer my readers to some of your recipes via a link or two..after all, it’s better the recipes are authentic! i will let you know when I get to the point of writing about it. I wondered if you had recipes for the herb, spice and the plant itself?! Would love to hear of some tasty recipes that can broaden the tastebuds.
Thanks for replying, and have a nice week 🙂

  13. Yes, there are quite a few recipes with fenugreek on my blog. Would you like me to provide links here?

  14. Lovefoodies Says:

oh, that would be very kind! Yes please 🙂

  15. Lovefoodies Says:

That’s great Lamya! I’ll keep them safe until I’m ready to use them, and will let you know.
Thanks so much for your generosity and kindness, and enjoy your weekend!
    Mary

  16. You’re very welcome. And you too enjoy the long weekend. I am hoping to get some cooking done and probably a recipe or two posted here. I hope so 🙂
