"There was for Saba, aforetime, a sign in their homeland [Yemen] two gardens to the right and to the left . . . be grateful to Him[Allah] . . .But they turned away, and We sent against them the flood released from the Dams [Maarib dam]" (Qur'an. Saba:15-16)

About the Site July 6, 2010

This blog is  my personal blog with all the different facets that make up my personality. I am a Muslimah, woman, daughter, sister, wife, M.A. student, Ph.D. holder, teacher, editor, translator, self acclaimed “cook,” and maybe–in the process–will discover other facets of myself that I never knew existed. Oops I just discovered one now “Blogger”  !!!!

Here’s what to expect from this site:

  • My recipes in full–with pictures. If there is a complicated process to any of them, I will make sure to include the pictures of each stage of the dish.

  • I will be sharing my amazement at my religion Islam that NEVER ceases to amaze me. In my study of Islam I am best likened to a toddler who has a very shiny object dangled in front of its eyes only to follow it eagerly with its eyes, hands and feet.

  • Occasional posts of personal creative/fictional  prose, short stories, and free writes. Even lamentations. I am unpredictable, did I mention that I was a women 🙂 !

  • Posts about my endeavors. Trust me they are going to be many. I am always trying new things, and in the process either discovering that I enjoy them or am just not made up for them. Remember that the greatest oak was once a little nut who held its ground. There’s no telling how many miles I will have to run while chasing a dream but I am willing to run them. My ultimate goal is Jannat Al Firdawas (the highest  level in Paradise) and I live in hope of achieving it, and fear of not.

  • Synopses of my different halaqas (lectures).

  • Translations of halaqas I attend, and afterthoughts.

  • At times my halaqa will be available online (live) through www.dimdim.com/–so make sure to check in whenever possible.

This is the beginning ! Have yet to see where this blog leads me.

  1. ELHAM Says:

thank you so much for this great website, I just have a question does that mean that we will be able to watch the wednesday halaqa live? please respond.

  2. You’re very welcome my dear. You will be able to hear it live, but not see it. If you are in the US, you can connect with us through the phone. But if not and calling costs are too high, we sometimes attempt to connect through dimdim–and oftentimes we have an internet connection in the masjed and sometimes we don’t.

But will think of a way insha Allah, and see what I can do for those sisters who would like to listen in on the halaqa insha Allah.

Check my blog on the topic for that day–we are currently doing Stories from the Qur’an and we have done so far the VERY FIRST story of humans on earth and that is of Qabeel and Habeel, we did the story of the Owners of the Garden in Surat Al Qalam, we did the story of the people of Najran in Surat Al Burooj, and we are currently working on the story of Luqman the Wise and his son–we did the first part and we will be doing the second part this coming Thursday insha Allah, the 30th of December. Watch out for my blog announcement of halaqa events–mine and others. If there is anything new i usually have it up there insha Allah.
